So far, in my opinion, the Bob Gale/Barry Kitson issues of the new Brand New Day weekly format are the weakest. I guess I’m not the only one who thinks that, because instead of getting a three-issue arc this time, they get a single done-in-one.
It’s really just a Freak check-in, and Freak is a terrible character. But he knows Peter’s secret identity, so Pete’s all worried about that. Sigh. The whole point of Brand New Day was to restore his secret, and now here we go again.
Peter’s nightmares and Curt Connors’ handwringing is what passes for character moments. Then Menace attacks, Freak hatches from his cocoon, but Menace runs away and Freak gets re-cocooned at the end so…
An entirely pointless issue, except that there are hints that Oscorp is behind Menace and that they take possession of Freak-in-a-cocoon.
