More alternate future characters coming to the current 616 timeline. If you read this site regularly, you know I’m not a fan of these kinds of stories. This one is no exception.
Doctor Doom arrives at the Baxter Building looking for Reed. He’s followed by a new team of alternate reality heroes calling themselves The New Defenders, led by Sue Storm.

They kidnap Doctor Doom and Human Torch.

Then, they use them to power their time travel device, which is made out of Dead Galactus and will save the universe or something.
Reed Richard’s eventually frees the captives and stops the plan, but Doctor Doom kills Sue Storm. Hence, the completely misleading title of this story arc, “Death of the Invisible Woman.”
These characters will return again, so I have to tag them all. That makes me sad because this story, from my perspective, is dreadful and boring and entirely predictable. Mark Millar is capable of much better than this.
Anyway, since the story isn’t much, I’ll spend time on this post introducing each of The New Defenders. There’s Hulk Junior…

He’s like Hulk only smart and wears glasses. So…He’s like Hulk. There’s alternate future Sue Storm, who dies so I’m not tagging her, and also this guy…

Who is named Lightwave but basically is like Human Torch only with wave energy instead of fire. Also there’s “Guy in a Hoodie…”

…Er. Excuse me. I mean “Hooded Man.” He’s future Wolverine. And another version of Ultron named Alex.

As well as Natalie X and Psionics who are given barely anything at all to do, but at least we already know Psionics from an earlier story. Frankly, it’s hard to even find their names in the story.

Issue #662 is a requiem with a huge funeral for future Invisible Woman.

Just about everyone in the Marvel Universe shows up and no I’m not tagging any of them) for this character, who we just met a few issues ago. There’s an explanation that this is ACTUALLY 616-Sue but…Come on. No, it’s not.
It ends with Doctor Doom being held prisoner at the Hague for crimes against humanity making all kinds of threats because, you know, he’s Doom and that’s all he does. And there’s a new threat introduced for the next story that, frankly, promises to be as cliche as this one.
