Vivisector falls in love with a teen idol (with the appropriately named “Brandon Cody”) and decides he needs to be cured of his mutant gene so that they can have a future together—because nobody wants to be in love with a guy who is covered in hair. And yet, Hank McCoy in the ‘80s was quite the ladies man…And Tigra has certainly done her fair share of successful catting around. As it turns out, Vivisector should have consulted his fellow hairy heroes first because Brandon dumps him as soon as he’s cured.
Doop contemplates the whole notion of “cures.”
Meanwhile, the doctor who “cured” Vivisector had ulterior motives: He injects himself with Myles’ gene sample and gets his werewolf powers.
Myles kills him, gets his powers back, and there’s a cute little twist. Once Myles’ is a werewolf again, Brandon Cody tries to reconnect with him; however, it turns out Brandon has effectively lost HIS powers—his latest movie is a flop—and Myles rejects him.
Another solid story in one of Marvel’s most consistently high-quality series.
