Well, this didn’t take long. In the last arc, Professor X was killed. This led Cyclops to disband the X-Men.

There are a few scenes with the X-Men, like a little fight between Frenzy and Omega Sentinel, but this mostly about the Professor.
In this arc, which immediately follows that story, we see that Xavier isn’t dead. Tempo stopped time and now Exodus has the Professor’s body held in stasis. He’s having a whole psychic adventure.

Magneto and Omega Sentinel team up and rescue him. When he wakes up, the Professor decides not to try to re-form the X-Men or lead the Acolytes (after Karima offers him the job). Instead, he decides to go on a walkabout. He has partial amnesia and wants to find the people he thinks can fill in the gaps of his memories.

Exodus had been trying to brainwash Xavier into working with him, and after defeating Exodus, Charles says he is a new man.
Meanwhile, the Hellfire Club is up to something involving an apparatus called, “Cronus.”
A lot of time is spent in Professor X’s “mindscape.”. John Romita Jr draws some of those scenes, with the great Klaus Janson.
