Wonder Man #1-5 (2006-2007): My Fair Superhero

I’ll get this out of the way first: This comic doesn’t matter at all. It stars Marvel’s most disposable Avengers. It introduces a new character, Lady Killer, who never appears again.

This is a comic you should read just for the love of the medium. It’s written by Peter David at a time when he was writing some of the best comics in the industry (he’s still great BTW). And it’s funny and has an interesting idea.

Basic story: Wonder Man of the future remembers back when he met a villain named Ladykiller and tried to help her go straight, as part of a documentary being made about his life. In the future, Simon is a movie star with a charitable foundation called “Second Chances,” so focusing on the Lady Killer relationship makes sense for the film. It will be called “My Fair Superhero,” which, given the concept, is f-in brilliant.

His colleagues don’t find it so brilliant.

Given that this is a future recollection of events, I don’t know if it’s canon. But it’s a lot of fun and I highly recommend it.
