PROFILE ON JIM SHOOTER (1967)

  1. Yeah, well, I realized it. Even though they spelled his name wrong. ( ” Schooter”- that’s just hilarious! ) As controversial as Shooter was, and remains, and what a pure S.O.B. he was to work for, it is also true that this man authored some of the most memorable Marvel Comics ever published. It is for that reason that he is one of my personal idols. 95% of Shooter’s work was beyond excellent- state of the art storytelling. And even the remaining five percent of his work was better than 95% of everything else out there. My latest information on Jim Shooter is that he works for a “third-tier” publisher of some-sort, which I pay no attention to any of, which is why I don’t know who it is. Allegedly, the air is so putrid between him and Marvel Comics that the unilateral understanding between all parties involved is that he will never work for them, ever again. ( the “Byrne Syndrome” -but why not DC-?? He could do some awesome work on ‘Justice League’, or even his old professional alma mater, ‘The Legion of Super-Heroes’ ) Finally, an aspect of Jim Shooter which has never been discussed ( at least to the best of my knowledge ) is that this fellow was at least as handsome as he was tall! If I had been he around the time of his falling out with Marvel Comics, I would have simply struck out for the West, got an agent, and hit Hollywood! God Bless You, Jim Shooter- I hope you are doing well!
