Mystique #14-18 (2004): Unnatural

Sean McKeever signs on for a story that has Mystique and Shortpack investigating a skin-care company called Dermafree that is experimenting on mutants to make better skin creams.

Hm.

They rescue the mutants and, before it’s all over, Mystique disfigures the head of Dermafree.

Another fine story in a dependably entertaining series.

It would have been made better if the rescued mutants were then taken to the Xavier Institute.  The premise of this book is Mystique doing black ops for Professor X to protect mutants from evildoers, and it’s odd that they don’t build on that by educating and training the mutants they save.
