Marvel Comics Presents #8-12 (2008): Machine Man

It’s hard to ell if this story is canon, but it is definitely interesting. Haunted by his past and all the ways he’s been reinvented (and there are man, especially if you count Warren Ellis’ brilliant rendition in NEXTWAVE–which is definitely included in this story based on the panel below), Aaron Stack goes to a therapist.

In the middle of a session, and Utron Head crashes through the ceiling.

He then proceeds to face down an android Hulk and have a bunch of truly bizarre adventures…

…One of which is named after a McCLusky album.

Each story features a robot of a character who was central to the evolution of the Machine Man character. In the end, Madame Menace was behind the whole thing.

This story is hilarious and lots of fun. I’m sad it was buried in an anthology where nobody read it. I don’t care that it plays fast and loose with continuity.

Since it’s not clear which version of Machine Man is in this story, I tagged both the 616 canon version and the NEXTWAVE version who does later journey to Earth 616.
