This 8-page story is called “Test Run,” and that’s exactly what it is. Soon after this, Deathlok will appear in an excellent miniseries and then will get his own series–by this same creative team.
It shows Deathlok being hard to control, introduces him as a human/cyborg hybrid, shows his current owner (named “Harlan Ryker”–an obvious reference to sci fi writer Harlan Ellison), and ends with a proposal to replace the brain-in-the-body.
That will happen in the miniseries, when a new Deathlok is created. The Deathlok in this story, John Kelly, will become Siege.
