Participants in the big war against the Phalanx are recovering…

…and Star-Lord brings them together to face a new threat and form a team: Rocket Raccoon, Groot, Mantis, Phyla-Vell, Adam Warlock, Gamora, and Drax.

And also Cosmo the Dog as the chief of security of Knowhere, which they operate out of.
While flying out in search of a purpose, they come upon Captain America’s shield frozen and abandoned on a distant satellite. It belongs to…

Yeah, so that’s gonna be confusing. These Guardians of the Galaxy are in the current time of Earth 616, which has a Vance Astro who goes by Justice and keeps joining lame teams like New Warriors. So obviously this is not the same version but…It might be because he’s from the future so…I’m using the same tag. Deal with it.

But then Starhawk appears and fights the team a little bit, and Mantis tells us he is NOT from the future Guardians of the Galaxy. But later in this series, it seems he is so….Again. Same tag. Deal with it.

Adam Warlock’s old enemies from the Church of Universal Life appear be the foe who will form the through-line for this book, but these early issues are really just about introducing the team and getting a feel for their chemistry. They’ve got a Warlock-looking cocoon and might be connected to the appearances of future members of the GotG.
There’s a lot of unknowns at the end of these issues, but it’s all making me want to keep reading. Well Done.
