Doc Samson #1-5 (2006)

Doc Samson is now working with SHIELD.    He helps stop an evil skrull plot using psychiatry (by talking through an issue with the skrull).  That might be an interesting series idea.  But from there this series gets VERY complicated, with magic and skrulls and all kinds of junk being thrown at the reader.

None of it sticks.

If I understood it, at the end we learn all these issues are just nightmares Samson is having.

I tried actually to read these issues, but it was a train wreck.  It tries to be funny.  It tries to develop deep plotting.  There’s alternate earth stuff.  The creative teams switch out halfway through and then switch back again.  It’s too much.  It’s sloppy and, frankly, boring.  A painful slog.  I had to turn my brain off and just scan through to tag the characters appearing.
