These four issues had double numbering.
Sabretooth is working for a revived Weapon X, which we saw in a recent Wolverine arc, recruiting the likes of Garrison Kane, Wild Child, Mesmero, and Sauron.
In this issue, he tries to recruit Deadpool–and he won’t take “no” as an answer.
The program has ways to amplify mutant abilities, and they enable Deadpool’s healing factor to heal all of the scars across his body.
So he agrees to work for them.
Weapon X send Deapool and Kane to subdue a mutant in Iowa, but after Deadpool de-escalates the situation (by telling jokes) and the kid powers down, Kane shoots the kid in the back. This makes Deadpool want to quit Weapon X, but they tell him that his next assignment is to kill Copycat–who broke Deadpool’s heart by sabotaging his relationship with Siryn.
But Deadpool doesn’t want to kill Vanessa–he wants to tip her off. There’s a showdown with Wade and Kane while Sabretooth kills Copycat.
Enraged, Deadpool tears his way through the Weapon X facility. During the big finale, the director of the program exposes Deadpool to gasses and literally melts him.
Then they mail his hand to Wolverine.
