Cable hires Deadpool to take down Flag-Smasher, who became the dictator of a small country in the Citizen V miniseries written by Fabian Nicieza–a fact I had already forgotten because it happened way back in 2001.
Frankly, even if I’d read that miniseries yesterday I’d probably have forgotten because Nicieza’s Thunderbolts stuff is impenetrable and kinda dull.
Domino interferes at first, but ultimately recognized Flag-Smasher as a villain and does the assassination herself.
Cable then installs himself as the new President of Rumekistan.
This book continues to be funny and is one of Nicieza’s better projects.
That said, the plotting is getting pretty dense at this point, and it’s hard to understand the characters’ motivations.
