This was a biweekly series that refreshed the origins of The Avengers and walked readers through the history of the team. It was excellent. It picked up on the continuity from the early issues of the series (e.g., what happened after Hulked jumped away at the end of issue #2?) and filled in gaps, and was just great all around.
Nothing here is essential, but it is a lot of fun. Like, there’s a bunch of panels about the creation of the by-laws…And they’re both interesting and funny!
It also came at a time when the Avengers’ title had been cancelled and the team “disassembled,” so it filled a void.
It ends where Avengers #16 ended, with the new lineup being announced on TV…
