AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #2-3 and PETER PARKER SPIDER-MAN #3 (1999)

The Spider-Man relaunch started with Peter Parker learning about a new Spider-Man. In the second issue, he learns that the fake Spidey is Mattie Franklin, and she gives him back his threads.

So what appeared to be the start of a long-standing mystery is quickly resolved right in the middle of a three-part story pitting Spider-Man and Iceman against Shadrac, a “new” villain who is really Override, who debuted during the clone saga, which means nobody likes him.

And I’m already annoyed by the overlaps between the Amazing/Peter Parker series. It breaks the continuity of creators and leads to disjointed storytelling.
