World War Hulk: Aftersmash (2007-2008)

“Aftersmash” consisted of a one-shot titled, “Aftersmash,” two miniseries (“Warbound” and “Damage Control”), and Incredible Hulk #112, which had “Herc” spray painted over “Hulk” in the title and served as the transition issue of this series from “Incredible Hulk” to “Incredible Herc.”

Collectively, these issues establish first that Hercules and Amadeus Cho are now a duo who are being hunted by SHIELD and Initiative members Black Widow, Wonder Man, and Ares.

Damage Control is now functioning in partnership with SHIELD and the registered super community.

And as for the Warbound, well, they escape SHIELD custody and later face off against The Leader in a domed city in New Mexico called Gammaworld.

Kate Waynesboro, a minor player from Hulk’s past who briefly served as Ms. Modok, aka MODAM, ends up joining the group.  Heroim dies in the final battle against Leader but is able to transfer his power to Kate, making her now a super-powered individual warranting a tag, below.

The Warbound group end up staying in Gammaworld at the end of their Aftersmash miniseries.  They’ll disappear for a bit until Hulk’s son Skaar gets his own series.
