Dracula gets married. His bride is a woman named Domini, who is basically a human sacrifice offered by a devil worshipping cult. Dracula’s motivation was basically to get the cult to follow him.
But Drac didn’t count on actually falling in love with her!
Also over the course of these issues, Hannibal King reveals that Deacon Frost, who killed Blade’s mother, also bit Hannibal and turned him into a vampire. Deacon has the ability to create fake versions of Hannibal and Blade, presumably because he was the cause of both of their vampirism.
The Deacon Frost story is really being dragged out, but the thing about Tomb of Dracula is that there are so many characters, there’s really not enough screen time to finish most of these subplots. And to Marv Wolfman’s credit, he likes to spend a lot of time on character development.
Frank Drake tries to put the moves on Rachel Van Helsing, who rejects him, and generally mopes around because he really wants to kill Dracula. He finds out Drac is now running the Satanic Cult that married him to Domini, and Frank decides he’ll go after the Count there. But instead he gets captured by the cult.
Which brings us to the big issue #50, which we’ll do next time.
This series continues to defy expectations and be quite good!
