First of all, Reed’s science gets all domestic.
And Ben is jealous. Also, he has a cold.
Apparently, he has a super sneeze power. That’s never used again.
Next, Reed detects some weird magnetism.
You may remember that Magneto was “killed” at the end of X-Men #63. At the beginning of this story, Sub-Mariner finds his limp, near death body. He aligns with Magneto.
But soon Namor starts acting like a big jerk (as usual) and thinking he was the boss of everything and everyone. His pride makes him easy to be manipulated by Magneto, who looks weird in this picture, drawn by John Romita. Romita would draw only a few issues, #102-106 and #108.
Magneto manipulates Namor, and Atlantis starts a war against the surface world.
But of course, in the end, the FF and Namor team up against the real threat–Magneto.
Sadly, Fantastic Four #102 was Jack Kirby’s last issue. But this was a really “big,” important and influential arc–even without King Kirby.
In the end, Magneto gets imprisoned by Crystal in a “core magnetic force.”
Franklin Richards is at Agatha’s during this story.
Also, Richard Nixon appears throughout, trying to negotiate with Atlantis.
