A new Garth the Zombie tale by Doug Moench and Dave Simons. He kills a crocodile and then is pulled by his magic amulet to find a second stone with the same mystic power. We the readers are led to believe that the amulet’s twin will restore Garth to life, but it doesn’t. A bad person gets their comeuppance in the bargain.
Yeah, it’s kind of pointless–but so are most of these kinds of horror movies.
The other 616 story here is Dracula, by Steve Perry and Steve Bissette–the future, famous artist of Alan Moore’s Swamp Thing. It debuts Varnae, a demon who ties together Conan, King Kull, and Dracula, and who made the Count the King of Vampires. I don’t really go for these “very important” legend-type stories, but I suppose it’s fine for what it is.
