The kids materialize inside Avengers Mansion, where a shirtless Hercules threatens to hit them with a table. Black Knight is there, too, waving his sword around in his boxers, but nobody cares about Black Knight.
We see some scenes with Mom and Dad Power being all upset because their kids are missing (yet again). That seems to be their major role, which is kinda neat given that until recently the only prominent Marvel kid so far, Franklin Richards, played the same exact role in the pages of Fantastic Four: He was always upset that his parents were gone and he didn’t get enough attention.
The She-Hulk version of the Fantastic Four have gone to outer space to “rescue” Franklin Richards, who left them a note last issue telling them he was going to take on the Snarks. Franklin’s already home, but the FF don’t know that yet.
By the end of the issue, the Richards and Powers families are all reunited, and we get a glimpse of what’s to come…
…Alex Power’s classmate, the aptly named Johnny Rival, is gonna shoot him. Interesting X-Factor tie in, showing how that team’s approach to saving mutants (by cashing in on anti-mutant hype) is serving to increase anti-mutant paranoia and vigilantism.
The kids also see how Reed Richards loves Franklin “even though” Franklin has powers, which makes Power Pack think maybe they should share their secret with their parents.
This continues to be a well-above average book. Louise Simonson’s contributions to 1980s Marvel should not be understated.
