We’ve been spoiled by Garth Ennis writing Punisher for two years. Now, when a new crew comes to write a Punisher title, expectations are high.
Unfortunately, results are low. Reed Richards and Nick Fury send Frank Castle back in time to kill Al Capone.
There is so much wrong with this basic concept that I don’t know where to start. So instead I’ll just say that going from the hyper-realism of Ennis’ most recent issues into an extremely comic-booky tale is hard turn for a reader to make. When you put on top of that ’90s style dialogue and then make the punchline that…[SPOILER ALERT FOR A 20-YEAR-OLD COMIC]…it’s a ll a dream anayway, you have a very, very skippable issue.
