This issue is mostly a conversation/contest between Surfer and Ego. Ego wants Norrin to help him control a “jet pack” kind of device installed on him by Galactus. The device was supposed to be a governor that kept Ego from moving around the universe. To force Surfer to help him, Ego steals his board.
So, both characters are dealing with their need for a device to propel them through space.
Surfer gets his board back from Ego, and Ego is left with the device still on him.
It makes him sad.
I like this issue–it’s a character issue for the Living Planet.
