The team is apparently working to hunt mutants now, which was their original mission when they started, and when they’re called to hunt down four mutants in Georgia, it turns out that they are all dupes of Madrox.
Rather than turn him over to be a prisoner of the government, Shard and Wild Child hide him from Val Cooper, while Mystique takes on his form.

Madrox tells the team that he never really died–it was a dupe that died from Legacy Virus. He also relates that Havok found him first and tried to recruit him into the new Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. He is still in hiding at the end of this arc.
Meanwhile, Mystique-as-Madrox escapes, hooks up with Pyro (yeah, we knew he wasn’t dead), and they decide to kill Graydon Creed.
Howard Mackie is doing a good job on this series overall. As a big Madrox fan, I’m disappointed that his big return got hijacked by the death of Graydon Creed.
Some X-Factor members are diverted to protect Creed, and both Pyro and Mystique are captured–but Creed is still shot, by a mystery figure.
I for one am glad he is dead. It felt like his storyline never really got off the ground.
The mystery assassin clearly is trying to set up X-Factor, and sends a threat via computer screen.
