THE STATE OF THE COMICVERSE IN 2015: THE TOP 10 DC YOU COMICS!

THE TOP 10 DC TITLES OF 2015 (so far)

10. Justice League of America. Brian Hitch gives the JLA the Ultimates treatment.
9. Dr. Fate by Paul Levitz and Sonny Liew. Amazing art and a script by a career veteran that doesn’t feel old or stale.
8. Prez by Mark Russell and Ben Caldwell. Defying all expectations, this is not a goofy genre book. It actually has something to say. I’d say this is the most suprising DC comic of the year.
7. Martian Manhunter by Rob Williams and Ben Oliver. Along with Dr. Fate, these are two characters I’ve always found extremely derivative and stupid. But I’m happy to be proven wrong.
6. Earth 2 by Daniel Wilson and Jorge Jimenez. Where there’s Jimenez, there’s great art. This book feels a lot like the old Wildstorm book, “The Authority,” but if you’re gonna echo someone, you might as well echo Warren Ellis, right?
5. Secret Six by Gail Simone and Dale Eaglesham. We’ve been waiting over four months between issue #2 and 3. Shame on you, DC, for allowing an event to arbitrarily cut short one of your best series.

4. Midnighter by Steve Orlando and ACO. The continuing challenge here is balancing the Batman and Punisher elements without coming off as wishy-washy. But the first two issues were very good, so I’m optimistic.

3. Omega Men by Tom King and Alec Morgan. It’s like Guardians of the Galaxy without the silliness. Fantastic so far.
2. Batman by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo. Not a DC You book per se, but one that completely reorganized its concepts in solidarity with the new DC brand. For years now, Snyder and Capullo have put together one of the best long-time runs on the world’s second hero, and they’re still going strong.
1. Section Eight by Garth Ennis and John McCrea. The team from Hitman revives DC’s weirdest and foulest group in a wonderfully offensive satire of all things DC. It’s irreverent, disgusting, and amazing.
