Spider-Man Team-Up Special (2005)

Roxxon is polluting Monster Island.  Mole Man attacks the U.N. to force them to stop.  Spidey and the FF stop him AND get Roxxon to voluntarily agree to clean up their waste.

This was dumb.  Why did Mole Man attack the U.N. instead of Roxxon itself?  Why did the world not consider this an act of war and finally lock Mole Man up for good?  Is this just the writer’s own personal justification for environmental terrorism?

Enraged that Roxxon Oil is dumping their toxic waste on Monster Isle, Mole Man attacks the United Nations in order to force Roxxon to clear out the waste, and be held accountable for their crime. Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four must fight off Mole Man’s monsters and subdue him, and work out a way to come to a peaceful agreement, to clean up Monster Isle.

This one-shot was wholly unrelated to Spidey’s ongoing “team up” book—and wholly unrelated to anything, really.  I’m all for all-ages books but they still should have a quality benchmark, and this one didn’t.
