Howard the Duck was always one of those books I really, really wanted to like…But it just fell flat for me. I appreciate what Steve Gerber was doing with it, and some issues are certified brilliant, but overall…HtD always feels like a one-joke character.
Gerber actually came back for this 6-issue mini–and I hope he got a ton of money out of it. It brings back Dr. Bong, attacks Marvel Comics Group, satirizes boy bands and offers naked pictures of Howard’s voluptuous girlfriend Beverly…But…I just don’t like it. I skimmed it–can’t even give story details for you because it was a slog of a read.
