This series brings a made-for-TV-cartoon character into the Marvel Universe. Of course, you all know Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends. If you don’t, you had a lacking childhood.
The splash page has the “mark of the mutant”–I don’t think we’d seen that before.
Then, we’re introduced to her as a teen in High School who is awkward but (literally) hot, and then Professor X and White Queen both vie to get her as a gifted student for their respective training academies. White Queen wins, so the rest of the series involves Angelica “Firestar” Jones learning that she’d rather be good than bad.
It’s a fairly standard origin story, but better than I expected for a TV-to-comics vehicle.
