Under the Marvel Knights banner, Elektra gets another solo series. It will be great when Greg Rucka works on it, but we’re not there yet. Instead, we’re with Brian Michael Bendis and Chuck Austen’s initial arc.
It’s not very good.
In a story written soon after the 9/11 attacks on the United States, Elektra is sent by SHIELD to assassinate a fictional stand-in for Saddam Hussein.
It’s not as bad as a lot of bloggers will tell you, but it is boring. It doesn’t showcase how well Bendis otherwise writes in the Daredevil universe. Elektra doesn’t feel true to character–and it might have read better as a Black Widow story.
