Character: Ms. Marvel (Carol Danvers) (aka Binary and Captain Marvel)

Carol Danvers first appeared as a civilian character and possible love interest for the original Captain Mar-vell.  She was without powers.  

Then she Kree-based powers due to her having shared DNA (nonsexually!) with Captain Mar-Vell.  Flight, strength, general immunity/imperviousness, and a “seventh sense.”  It also caused a split personality between her super- and normal-identities. 

Next, in the seminal Avengers Annual #10, Rogue permanently absorbed her Ms. Marvel powers and stole her memory of having been the superhero.

So, she’s got a long history of mental health issues.

She then became Binary.

And then Captain Marvel in the 2010s.
