After a long arc with barely any Falcon, we get an issue that’s almost all Falcon.
It’s not worth the wait.
That’s the last panel, above, and it shows how downright terrible Jack Kirby is at writing dialog. And even his art isn’t its best in this issue.
Goodbye, Jack.
Am I correct in my assumption that Marvel fired Kirby off both ‘Captain America’ and ‘Black Panther’ because Kirby’s dated art and writing styles were hemorrhaging the readerships of both these titles-?? Two years prior, DC cancelled all of Kirby’s titles for their company, for the same reason, unless I am mistaken. Kirby returns to Marvel the following year, ( 1976 ) and recycles ( regurgitates ) “The New Gods” into “The Eternals”, with the same eventual result. For some reason, Marvel Studios gave us “The Eternals” on the big screen earlier this year, with embarrassing results!! Pee-yew!! A hard lesson for Hollywood in general, and Marvel Studios, in particular! Just because the brand says “Marvel”, doesn’t mean it’s an automatic blockbuster! A very expensive lesson for Marvel Studios. The property can’t be just ‘Marvel’, it has to be GOOD!! And, yes, the late Seventies were pretty miserable years for Jack Kirby. I believe that had he not quit on Marvel in 1970 in the first place, and continued his legendary runs on “The Fantastic Four” and “The Mighty Thor”, both he and his career would have been just fine.
