It’s probably not cool to say this these days, but a key element of GC was the focus on cops as real people in dangerous jobs that have consequences. They weren’t saints, but they were heroes.
Issue #16 starts with a funeral, and moves into an arc involving Huntress helping the police stop a Penguin plot.
Then #19-22 involve Mad Hatter, a character who has never seemed vicious and evil…Until now.
It continues to be fascinating to read a book about “normal” cops against super villains.
