Roger Stern and John Romita’s run was so wonderful that it is almost impossible to fairly judge this fill-in issue comparatively, since it is stuck in the middle of their genius.
But I will. It’s creepy and not bad. A dude trains spiders to kill for him. Nice to see some early art by Rick Leonardi.
Sort-of like “Willard”, and “Ben”, but with spiders, instead of rats. Not very original, or inspired, but in the Spider-Man saga, I suppose it was inevitable. Wasn’t there another horror movie, also from the early Seventies, where some weirdo gained control over rattlesnakes for the same purpose-?? Brrrrrrrr!!
