Spectacular Spider-Man #23-26 (2005): Sins Remembered

These issues are the sequel to the “Sins Past” storyline that lots of people (not me) hated.

Sins Past gave us Gwen Stacy and Norm Osborn’s kids, Gabriel (The Grey Goblin) and Sarah Stacy.  Gabe appeared to have died at the end (but of course he didn’t) and Sarah ran off.  The cover of #25 should tell you how bad this follow-up story is.

It starts with Peter flying to Paris after authorities tell him that Sarah Stacy is in the hospital there after overdosing on painkillers.  The doctors say she attempted suicide but she tells Peter that she was simply trying to kill the pain of the goblin-blood that gives her powers and makes her age at a more rapid pace.

And now it gets creepy.  Sarah is crushing on Peter and it appears that he is crushing on Sarah (presumably because she looks like her mother, Gwen Stacy)—to the point where Mary Jane is jealous of Peter spending time with his ex-GF’s daughter.

Ugh.  Gross. And creepy….

Lurking in the background is a mysterious figure with sinister intent who is working with Sarah behind Peter’s back and helps lure Mary Jane to Paris.  But thankfully it’s not Norman Osborn, it’s Gabriel Stacy.  The two of them are working for a criminal in exchange for their pain pills.  Double ugh.

Peter helps them get out of their debt to the druglords.

Awful.
