I try not to be snarky as I am reading through every single Marvel comic ever published because I love these stories. They’ve given me so much throughout the years. But sometimes a snarky review just writes itself. The title of this issue is:
“Does anyone remember… the Hijacker!?”
Answer: No.
He was an obscure Hank Pym villain from Tales to Astonish #40. I could leave it at that, but there’s actually some cool stuff in this tale so I won’t. Bill Foster asks Thing to help him test a space suit that is intended to be worn by astronauts exploring Venus. That alone is pretty neat idea: If you need a test pilot for a suit designed to withstand pressure at 150 times Earth’s atmosphere, using a dude made of rocks seems like a good bet.
While Thing is in the test chamber, The Hijacker shows up and, well, hijacks Thing. Bill Foster turns into Goliath, and the fisticuffs begin.
Also worth noting: Everyone says how Ms. Marvel’s original, exposed-belly costume was sexist. But Bill Foster has the same thing on his costume. So there.
