Creator: Dick Giordano
Best known for working with just about every single DC character as an artist, editor, and ultimately Vice President at DC. Best known works include inking over Neal Adams’ best DC work and the first DC/Marvel crossover; rebooting Charlton Comics in the 1960s–creating Blue Beetle and Question, among others; playing important roles in the “maturing” of comic books, e.g., Frank Miller’s Dark Knight Returns, The Watchmen, and the launch of DC’s imprint, Vertigo; and discovering some of the most amazing talent in the industry (Jim Aparo and Denny O’Neil, e.g.). He was also a protector of creators’ rights, and pushed to give name credits to cover artists. Leukemia killed him in 2010.
