AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #1 (1999)

Peter Parker has given up being Spider-Man.

Heroes like Human Torch and Daredevil and others wonder where he is and talk about him.

Peter Parker has his dream job as a scientist with a private firm but Scorpion busts in, having been hired to find him.

And Spider-Man arrives to break up the fight.

The mystery of who the new Spider-Man is resolved quickly and fairly easily next issue, but this title will overlap in continuity with the other rebooted Spider-titles, which is, of course, annoying.

Rafael Kayanan illustrates a back-up feature explaining Scorpion’s new gear. John Byrne writes and draws a short character piece as well.

  1. John Byrne never drew anything less than a comic rated at LEAST a “B”, in his entire career. Even “Devil Dinosaur”, “The Eternals”, “Squirrel Girl”, and “Dazzler” would all be worth at LEAST a “B”, if John Byrne DREW it!!
