Wolverine: Xisle #1-6 (2003)

Remember that Wolverine is a daddy?  He adopted a little girl named Amiko, who is now a teenager.  This story has him doing daddy stuff—going to museums and carnivals together.  But being normal is not his forte, and when he acts like an ass, Amiko storms off.  So, he gets drunk, passes out, and wakes up on an island where he goes through some kind of Groundhog Day/repetitive dream cycle in which he has to come to terms with his own self-image of being a freak who can’t act normal.

Yes, it’s contrived.  But it’s contrived by a solid writer and artist, so it’s not bad.
