New X-Men #132 (2002)

After several multiple-issue arcs, it looks like Grant Morrison is at the point where there are dozens of plots seeded across dozens of characters, and now we’ll be getting single-issue stories that advance some of these plots and let others dangle in the background.

For this story, a team goes to Genosha–now in ruins with Magneto dead (or “dead”)–and finds Unus the Untouchable.

He says he is haunted by ghosts. They also find others. Toad is building a memorial to Magneto.

Polaris, who they thought was dead, is overcome with grief and raises a steel box from the rubble that projects Magneto’s last words, where he claims that his death has made him an immortal martyr and says that he will live forever through his followers.
