JLA #77-90

Well, Joe Kelly started strong but didn’t end that way. The stories are okay, but the art…Ugh. A series of terrible artists who draw either really cartoony or really over-muscled characters interpret Kelly’s scripts and make them almost unreadable. I know lots of people like it, but sorry, I don’t. After Kelly, Denny O’Neill came aboard for a few issues, then DC tried to get the Chris Claremont/John Byrne magic going in a story beginning in issue #94. Joe Kelly and and Doug Mahnke returned for the oversized #100 and did a good job, but then with #101 we’re back to mediocre creators. Until #107, which we’ll look at next.
