CAPTAIN AMERICA #255 (1981): 40th Anniversary Issue

IMG_6562

A great revisit of Cap’s past, and a tribute to the original #1.

The retelling of his origin story doesn’t make huge changes. He’s still a kid from Brooklyn.

Still scrawny. Still wanting to help fight Hitler.

So, yeah, this is all familiar. But that’s ok. It’s being drawn and written by two of the greatest Cap storytellers of all time.

Mostly, it’s just a loving tribute to one of the oldest superheroes of all time.

There are some nice little details added, such as why his mask is attached to the rest of his costume.

Also: Presidential cameo!

This is one of the 100 best single-issue stories of all time, according to this objectively accurate list.
