This issue has more development of how powerful X-51 has become as a result of Bastion’s augmentations, and more of Sebastian Shaw trying to hunt and capture the mutated machine.
It’s all very well done, but reading this retrospectively makes it hard to commit–because the series will be ending in less than a year. Damn shame. This book is a solid winner.
Anyway, as part of his investigation into Bastion, Machine Man accidentally hacks the X-Men’s computer system.
So they fight.
During the battle, Machine Man’s sentinel programming takes over and finds himself unable to resist it–and its prime directive to kill mutants.
Rather than kill the X-Men, he kills himself.
But that is not the end of the series.
