BLADE #1-6 (1999-2000)

Blade became a movie star in 1998, so of course he gets a series.

Blade has had series before, and they’ve been largely mediocre. This one is no different, but it has some nice touches in the concept.

SHIELD starts up a new Silvereye division that targets vampires–but they’ve been infiltrated by an ancient vampire race. Blade works with them before destroying them, teaming up with a pair of twins from Japan named Mikado and Mosha.

Sadly, the interesting plotlines end with issue #6, which returns Blade to the status quo.

The series is both written and drawn by Bart Sears. There are a lot of people who love Sears’ work, but I find it too cartoonish for my liking.

This series is approved by Comic Code Authority. Does anyone know when they decided to approve vampire books?
