Ka-Zar the Savage #16-17 (1982)

It’s time for Ka-Zar and Shanna to go to the city.  Actually, it’s not.  This is kind of a “what if” story.  Ka-Zar takes some magic mushrooms (by mistake) and imagines himself as Sam Spade.

It’s actually better than most Ka-Zar issues, largely because running around the jungle beating up animals and black people gets old very fast.

I don’t think Ron Frenz is as good an artist as Brent Anderson, but he’ll soon be the regular artist on this book and I have to admit that the quality of the title becomes exponentially better with Frenz illustrating Bruce Jones’ scripts.
