WOLVERINE #6 (2003)

This is one of the best works by writer Greg Rucka. It’s just a quiet little tale of Wolverine drinking in a bar with Nightcrawler (who wears an image inducer to hide his frightening appearance from the locals).

It’s also a bit of a wrap up from the first arc of this series, as Wolverine seems very moody about his failure to prevent the murder of Lucy Braddock, and then his sudden “feral” attack that killed dozens of men.

Meanwhile, at the scene of Braddock’s death, an FBI agent is snooping. She doesn’t know who Logan is, but she’s looking for him.

The plot points aren’t what makes this story such a great standalone. It’s the work on the relationship between Kurt and Logan. Well done, Mr. Rucka.
