Captain America and Nick Fury: The Otherworld War (2001)

Admit it: Just by reading the title of this post, you know that this is a comic not worth reading. I’m not sure why, but it seems very, very hard to make a Nick Fury comic worth reading, and it seems ten times harder when you put Captain America in the title. But this one isn’t terrible.

Set during World War Two, it includes the Howling Commandos and features the Nazis summoning Dormammu. The hero team has to connect with Ancient One and then a young Clea (although honestly she still looks the same) to stop the demon’s encroachment into our world. At the end of the story they all get mindwiped so they don’t remember The Ancient One or Dormammu.

It is nice to see the Ancient One before Doctor Strange came along, and the art is good. So, there’s a couple nice things. Again, it’s not a terrible comic, but it’s also far from great.
