X-FORCE #99-100 (2000): JF Moore run ends

Hey, that’s a beautiful cover. Bill Sienkiewicz gets the draw the demon bear he helped created over a decade ago, with Chris Claremont.

The Bear returns and attacks, and in the battle it manifests four versions of Dani Moonstar. And all the terrible Deviant stuff that’s been lurking around this title for years and years comes into play because this is John Francis Moore’s last two issues and I think he’s trying to put all the plodding plotlines to bed.

They travel though a bunch of alternate realities. Cable and Man-Thing guest star.

It’s not a great read plotwise (it’s very hard to follow), but none of that is Moore’s fault–he inherited much of this. His original plot points, and his execution of the existing ones, is pretty good.
